Tanoura is an Egyptian folk dance usually performed in Egyptian Sufi festivals. The Tanoura dance is performed by Sufi men, Darawish. The dance is similar to the Sufi whirling in Levant and Turkey. In this version, the men wear long colorful skirts, where each color on the skirt represents one Sufi order. Increasingly it has become popular to have a Tanoura performer for entertainment. Each dancer has his own tricks to do while whirling. This typically includes balancing and tricks with round discs.
